This section presents a step-by-step procedure for generating the PMDF-MB400 configuration files using the PMDF-MB400 configuration utility, pmdf configure mb400. Refer to Chapter 12 for a sample configuration dialogue.

• Configuration of PMDF-MB400 should be done by superuser to ensure that the necessary privileges are available to create the configuration files. If you are not logged in as root, do so now.
• Begin the configuration procedure by invoking the PMDF-MB400 configuration utility as follows, assuming that you have /usr/bin in your search path:

  # cd /pmdf/table
  # pmdf configure mb400
  

• The configuration procedure will optionally print out detailed explanations of each prompt as it proceeds. Unless you are conversant with the procedure, you should enable the detailed output.
• The answers to all the prompts are logged to a file in the /pmdf/table directory. After the first configuration, pmdf configure mb400 can use the answers to the previous run as the default answers.
• Closely examine the example configuration presented in Chapter 12 . Some of that configuration is probably similar to your own. The sample site continues the example presented in Figure 6-1 , adding a MAILbus 400 gateway to the roadrnnr system.
• Once you've completed running pmdf configure mb400, type out or print out the /pmdf/table/pmdf-mb400.checklist file and complete the configuration by following the steps outlined in the checklist.
