Some BITNET mailers check the origin tag field on messages to make sure it matches the From: address in the BSMTP envelope. This is not normally a problem when the message originated on the local system, but it is a problem when the message originated elsewhere and is being gatewayed onto BITNET by the local system. In this case there's no way that the From: address can match; it specifies a system that is not directly on BITNET.
The solution to this problem is to operate PMDF as a trusted mailer. BITNET mailer gateways exempt such mailers from this check.
You must set up and register a local mailer before this will work. See section 3.13.3 for information on how to register your local mailer and change the value of this information.
Your gatewayed messages must also have the proper origin tag. The
system part of the tag is set by Jnet or ANJE and is correct by
default. The user part of the tag is controlled by the
user
keyword in the channel definitions. This must match
the mailer address that you have registered in the BITNET tables.
