On OpenVMS, all PMDF processing jobs normally execute under the username SYSTEM. In some environments it may be necessary to change this default. The default username for periodic processing jobs is established when PMDF is installed; the installation procedure prompts for the username to be used.
The username must be that of an account with full privileges, i.e., a privilege mask of -1.
To change to a different username after installation, redefine the
system-wide, executive-mode logical name PMDF_BATCH_USERNAME to
translate to the desired username and the system-wide, executive-mode
logical name PMDF_BATCH_ACCOUNT to translate to the corresponding
accounting field. The next step is to edit the two files
SYS$STARTUP:pmdf_startup.com
and
PMDF_COM:pmdf_submit_jobs.com
, and change their
definitions of these logical names too. Next kill the periodic PMDF
jobs in MAIL$BATCH, in particular:
PMDF_COM:pmdf_submit_jobs.com
.
